Life Lessons From the Berry Patch
Always remember...
Stay balanced.
Patiently wait for the perfect ripeness.
Never force.
Step gently.
Remove the significant obstacles that get in the way of progress.
Step over the insignificant ones.
No matter how careful you are, there is always some collateral damage.
Speed and greed are counter-productive.
Keep searching...the finest fruits are hidden.
After you've seen the obvious, look again.
When you find yourself low in the mire, kneel down and look up.
When you think you are finished, find something else to reach for.

IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN...
There are many voices out there (especially in the selling business) telling us that the best way to get another person's attention is to:
Be fun
Make them laugh
Be visual
Be stimulating
Be seductive
Be daring
Change things regularly
Be different
Be exciting
Inspire curiosity
I submit that the best way to get someone's attention is:
To make a mistake!

Super Parent's Day
Having just spent two days with some of our most precious grandchildren and having watched three consecutive episodes of Power Rangers, I am reminded of what I have forgotten: That to be a good parent one has to be a Superhero!
Super Parents must have the following qualities:
They don't need sleep.
They have to read minds.
They have to work magic with food (at one end or the other).
They have to master the art of healing.
They have to have answers to everything.
They have to be teachers of reading, math, science, music, art and every other discipline (or delegate to others).
They have to counsel wisely, reprove with kindness and have a sense of humor.
They must oversee religious education and social manners...
...need I go on.
Some things just seem to fall in the Super Mom category. If a mom is smart (and young) she will rise early in the morning (around 3 a.m. should do it), go to the gym (you know, the one that is open all night just for Super Moms), come home to shower, fix hair, put on makeup and clothes and head for the kitchen. Fix from scratch enough food for three healthy meals plus bake cupcakes for the School Carnival. Then, she starts her day's work.
Super Dads may also do some of the above but they are most vitally the support team. They make all of this possible and help with anything that gets out of control. They organize a quick scripture study and a prayer over the entire family, all the food (especially the cupcakes) and the whole world for which Super Mom feels personally responsible. They work hard to bring home the bacon, fix anything that gets broken, do all the heavy lifting and counsel and soothe frazzled nerves.
And now, looking back, I also realize that Super Parents need to be able to sit through three consecutive episodes of Power Rangers--who have absolutely nothing on Super Parents!

MY TRIP
I have been suspicious of the Food and Drug Administration for a long time: That organization just can't make up it's own mind. First, it decides a wonderful drug will help any number of illnesses only to determine a short time later that enough research was not done, and those drugs will indeed hurt people. (It's true, they did warn us--every time we viewed a drug commercial.) And then there is this mercury toxicity issue that no one wants to comment on but would rather pass the proverbial buck to the final poor sucker who must add, "We have no further comment on the issue of dental amalgam."
So I decided to go see for myself. I’ve always wanted to go to Washington D.C. so when my neighbor, Lorraine, recently planned a trip back East I decided to take the invisible me along for the ride. I knew there would be lots of interesting government buildings to look at so I determined that I would stop in at the FDA and find out exactly how they function.
Lorraine dropped me off at the wide front entrance and I noticed the big sign over the front door: FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION. As I entered the lobby, I felt kind of out of place among what seemed to me to be so many careless people milling about with money literally hanging out of their pockets. I was certainly glad they couldn’t see me! The lobby was very large and there were plaques hanging on every wall proclaiming the FDA’s outstanding success in the field of drug administration. I was touched as I read the many testimonials to this work that has so benefitted mankind, so I took the invisible me on a self-guided tour into the nether regions of this spacious edifice. As I walked around I was amazed at the number of offices with variations of FDA written on them. Each door had some kind of sign explaining its particular area of expertise:
FIRST DRUG ADMINISTRATION: BEFORE NUTRITION (Full of energetic workers.)
FANCY DRUG ADMINISTRATION: FOR THOSE WHO CAN AFFORD THEM (Printed on an ornate gold-plated plaque.)
FAST DRUG ADMINISTRATION: LIMITED MARKET TIME (The staff was moving at lightning speed!)
FIXER DRUG ADMINISTRATION: KEEP THEM COMING BACK. (These were the happiest people I’ve ever seen.)
FLIMSY DRUG ADMINISTRATION: RECALL DIVISION (Couldn’t get in the door. The line was too long.)
FRIENDLY DRUG ADMINISTRATION: (This office was kind of empty. Most of the workers must have been on lunch break. Some were sitting around a table playing cards. I could barely make it out but one guy’s name tag said DOW, one said Johnson and Johnson and another said Monsanto. They must be on break from other offices.
FRIGHTENING DRUG ADMINISTRATION: USE ONLY AS PRESCRIBED (This staff must have been having a Halloween party because they were all dressed in costumes.)
FORMER DRUG ADMINISTRATION: PRODUCT SAFETY. (I peeked through a mass of cobwebs to see a dark, empty room hidden way in the back of the building.)
FAULTLESS DRUG ADMINISTRATION: WE DIDN’T DO IT (Down another dark corridor was large room which was kind of puzzling because on every wall was almost a memorial-type list of names...eerie. I had known so many of them--some in my own family.)
Finally, the last room in my self-guided tour had a large revolving door that led to what looked like some kind of agricultural facility labeled: FUTURE PHARMAS OF AMERICA. It was hard to see because the Monsanto building was blocking the view. I noticed several more of these revolving doors out to other large buildings, but I just couldn’t get to all of them or I would miss my ride. However, I was so glad that I came.
As I left the building and turned to admire the wonderful complex, for some reason I was reminded of those beautiful whited sepulchres that I had read about somewhere.

TRUST IN ME....
Kaa, The Jungle Book
The FDA says mercury is dangerous (but they still promote vaccination):
http://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm294849.htm
My local dentist says it is not.
The American Dental Association doesn't dare commit.
http://iaomt.org/testfoundation/adaamalgam.htm
In 2009, Twin Falls City spent $50,000 to clean up two teaspoon's worth of mercury spilled on the street. http://magicvalley.com/news/local/article_a0a8cab6-20f9-5aca-adbb-dc0fa243bf45.html
Do these people ever get together?
In 1996, Charlie Brown, who founded the Consumers for Dental Choice said:
At the start of our movement, we confronted an iron triangle; three major forces: The American Dental Association that profits from a system of consumer ignorance; The Food and Drug Administration that sits in the hip pocket of the American Dental Association… and the state dental boards, who were the enforcers who told dentists: You have to be silent.
The American Dental Association had a gag rule and said, Don't say the M word. Don't tell people about the mercury; don't say that it's a toxin, or there will be consequences.
The consequences were the state dental boards pulling licenses of dentists all through the 1990's and threatening to pull the licenses of many more.
The 47 nations of the Council of Europe passed a resolution calling on the nations to start "restricting or prohibiting the use of amalgams as dental fillings, explaining that "amalgams are the prime source of exposure to mercury for developed countries, also affecting embryos, fetuses (through the placenta) and children through breast feeding.

Then again, the principles of holistic dentistry, based on the research of Weston Price and Francis Pottenger, are as follows:
Avoid mercury (amalgam) fillings. If you have amalgam fillings, have them removed by a holistic dentist who specializes in mercury filling replacement. Extract teeth only when necessary, and then in such a way as to avoid leaving the jaw bone with cavitations, which can be focal points of infection. (Editorial note: If you have your amalgam fillings removed, ask your dentist for a metal detox chelator like DMSA or buy it yourself online.)
They also added:
Avoid root canals. If you have root canals that you suspect are causing disease, have them removed by a knowledgable dentist. (You can read more about the dangers of root canals here): http://www.foodmatters.tv/_webapp_248876/Root_Canal_Cover_Up_Exposed

So, who can we trust? Only one person I can think of.
Cursed is he that...shall hearken unto the precepts of men, save their
precepts shall be given by the power of the Holy Ghost. (2 Nephi 28:31)

MIRACLE
MAYO
Are you looking for an all-purpose dressing that doesn't have added chemical preservatives, high-fructose corn syrup, sugars and artificial colors? This sauce works wonders as a great substitute base for salad dressings, fish and veggie sauces, mayonnaise and even (the not so miraculous) Miracle Whip.
Almond Mayonnaise
Cover in water and gently boil 1 cup raw almonds 3-5 minutes. Drain and allow to cool slightly. Slip off the skins and have all other ingredients ready. Place almonds in blender (or food processor) and grind to a fine powder.
Add:
3/4 cup water
1 clove garlic
(opt. 1 tsp. chopped onion)
1 1/2 tsp. sea salt
sprinkle of stevia (KAL powdered extract)
Blend well, then add:
1/2 cup more water to form a smooth cream
3 tbls. lemon juice (juice of 1 lemon works)
3 tbls. raw, organic apple cider vinegar
1/4 tsp paprika
With blender on low drizzle in and blend for 1 minute:
1 cup organic, unrefined oil (flax, grapeseed, olive or pumpkin seed or mix them)
Scrape into a lidded container and refrigerate. This will keep 10 days to 2 weeks.
Can add herbs or other seasonings.
Add more water for thinner consistency.
Makes 1 1/2 to 2 cups.

The Healing of the Nations
"For by the power of my Spirit created I...all things both spiritual and temporal."
(D&C 29:31)
Listening to a moving performance of the Brahm's Requiem last Saturday night, I was reminded of the great truth of life that "...all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away." (1 Peter 1:24)
My thoughts were led to the symbolism of the Tree of Life mentioned in the scriptures:
"And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life...and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations." (Revelation 22:1-2)
Ezekial saw something similar:
"The healing waters shall issue out of the sanctuary and "the fruit thereof shall be for (food), and the leaf thereof for medicine." (Ezekial 47:12)
When the Master Healer comes to reign, there will not only be a spiritual healing of the nations, but a physical healing as well. He will teach us about all those nutrient-dense super foods that would be available to us right now to heal our bodies and minds--if we just knew. Any of these sound familiar: camu camu berry, chaga, lakanto, schizandra, miso, wakami, hijiki, dulse, arame, shatavari, chlorella, reishi, shilajit, chuchuhuasi, moringa? Well, then you are ahead of me!
I stand in awe of the gifts that are available to us right now and look forward to that Great Day of Healing!
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant
mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the
dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away..."
(1 Peter 1:3)
Happy Easter!
